NSTIC.US

As a working group constituted under IdCommons NSTIC.US is a joint effort of non-profits, corporations and individuals to jumpstart a wide-open, nationwide discussion of the government's proposed National Strategy on Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC).   Sponsoring organizations currently include: Identity Commons, Kantara Initiative, and theCitizen Foundation.

NSTIC is U.S. government initiated strategy, formally announced in April of 2011, that is aimed at developing a way to more efficiently and safely verify your identity online. The strategy aims to reduce the many usernames and passwords we all employ on different web sites and replace them with more secure and private identity mechanisms that preserve user choice, privacy, security and the possibility of anonymity while increasing both user and web site confidence in the validity of those identities.

Whether you support the governments NSTIC initiative or not we want you to join in a spirited national discussion.  This plan is too important for any Internet user to remain on the sidelines; each point of view is valuable and we want to make sure everyone is heard.  This website will keep track of how the plan is being put into action and encourage a nation-wide discussion about that process
